Activities & Adventures in Val d’Ayas

NATURE, TREKKING & BIKE

NATURE, TREKKING & BIKE

The Mountains Are Read One Step at a Time.

Every trail on Monte Rosa has a story to tell. The traces left behind by glaciers thousands of years ago, the names of Walser villages engraved in the valley’s memory, the flowers emerging effortlessly from the rocks at three thousand metres above sea level.

With our nature guides, every excursion becomes a journey of discovery.

Not just footsteps — stories.

Guided Hikes with Discover Ayas

We offer routes for everyone: from scenic family walks suitable for children to more demanding hikes for those who love the mountains in their purest form.

Throughout the summer season, in partnership with the guides of Discover Ayas, we organise guided excursions every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, from mid-June to mid-September.

Each outing is an opportunity to learn how to read the landscape: the marks left by glaciers, alpine flora above 3,000 metres, historic Walser trails and the legends of the Lost Valley.

GUEST INFORMATION: Please ask at reception for the excursion programme reserved for our guests.

Mountain Hut Excursions

On Monte Rosa, every mountain hut is a destination in its own right: some reward you with breathtaking views after a one-hour walk, while others require strong legs and an alpinist’s spirit. We’ll help you choose the one that’s right for you.

Valley Viewpoints — Easily Accessible

  • Vieux Crest Hut (1,932 m) – set within an ancient Walser village above Champoluc, offering spectacular views across the valley. Accessible on foot or via the lift system.
  • Ferraro Hut and Guide Frachey Hut (2,066 m) – located in the village of Resy, a natural balcony overlooking Val d’Ayas and the Tournalin mountain group.
  • Belvedere Hut (2,400 m) – located at Alpe di Saler, featuring a panoramic terrace and unforgettable views over Monte Rosa and the entire valley.

High Altitude & Glaciers — For Experienced Hikers

  • Grand Tournalin Hut (2,600 m) – located in the Nana valley, surrounded by wild and peaceful mountain scenery.
  • Val d’Ayas Guides Hut (3,420 m) – perched on the Rocce di Lambronecca and overlooking the Verra Glacier. One of the most spectacular viewpoints in the valley.
  • Mezzalama Hut (3,036 m) – a historic refuge at the foot of the glacier, preserving the authentic charm of traditional alpine mountaineering.

In the Forests by E-Bike

One of the most enjoyable ways to discover Val d’Ayas is from the saddle of an e-bike: forest tracks, alpine lakes, grazing cows and the quiet Walser villages.

The effort is minimal. The views are those of Monte Rosa’s most spectacular panoramic spots.

We have 2 e-bikes available directly at the hotel. For those looking for more options, additional rentals are available in Champoluc.

Alpine Pasture Tours

Few places are as authentic as a mountain pasture in summer. Cows moving up to higher altitudes, meadows scented with wildflowers and the slow rhythm of mountain life.

Stepping into a mountain pasture is a genuine encounter: with the animals, with the people who have preserved these traditions for centuries, and with flavours that cannot be found anywhere else. Freshly made cheese, hand-churned butter and fresh ricotta.

Whether it’s the Nana alpine pasture, Champoluc Chevré or La Tchavana, we’ll introduce you to a side of Ayas that many visitors never discover.

Horse Riding on Monte Rosa

Lessons, forest rides and trekking through alpine meadows — whatever kind of horseback experience you’re looking for, Green Ranch in Barmasc is the perfect place.

Suitable for children and adults, beginners and experienced riders alike.
